Fat Freddy's Cat is a five piece original rock recording group, with many years of connections and experience in the western Indiana and eastern Illinois area. The group gathered together, initially, as the Steve Harris Band, and did studio session work for the late Steve Harris. After recording four CDs worth of songs as * (see below) SHB, (see www.backstagecommerce.com. Search: the Steve Harris Band,) there were personnel changes and a different, divergent artistic direction. The band adopted the name as a promotional tool, (advertising for their live gigs.) Now, they have recorded a couple of new song collections; the Fishback Collective Project presents the Fat Freddy's Cat Album and a holiday CD of original Christmas songs called A Gift of Songs  from Fat Freddy's Cat.  Those CDs will be available to the public soon. Please give the sample songs a listen.

The band's style is a reflection of the various influences the individual members have accumulated through their extensive years of playing. Mostly, it's a mix of classic and southern rock, with a lot of other nuances thrown in for flavor. The sound has been described by many as "eclectic". Four talented and experienced lead vocalists keep things interesting and makes for some sweet backing harmonies. Guitars, Bass, Keys & Percussion are standard rock instrumentation. It's the mix that makes it unique. According to our peers, we're pretty unique and we like that.

We'd like to thank the Wabash Valley Musicians Hall of Fame for their 2010 induction of Phyllis and Al. Please visit them at www.wabashvalleymusicianshof.com. (Tell them "Fat Freddy's Cat" sent you.) Take a little time to check out some local music history, as well as links to various other local groups.

Our advertising says we are, "The most obscure band in the Wabash Valley." We kinda like that, too. In a day and age where everything seems to need to be over-the-top and in-your-face, it's cool that we still have a hint of mystery about the band. So, when you see a posting here, or on our other band website, announcing a live show..... well, take advantage and give us a listen. Thanks! Until then, enjoy our studio work, (Weaver Road Studio.)   Retail sales locations for our CDs: currently available (exclusively,) at the Arts Illiana Gallery and at Headstone Friends. We also usually have our music for sale prior to and after our shows. Just contact any member of the band for info. For more information and to hear/download some extra songs, please visit our official website at www.myspace.com/fatfreddyscat1.  Or visit us at www.indiecharts.com. or www.soundclick.com. or www.ourstage.com.   (Search: Fat Freddy's Cat.) Thanks and enjoy the free songs! FFC
